Family Caregiver Workshops

The goal of the Schmieding Center's Family Caregiver Worskshops is to provide family members with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and competent care for a family member in the home.

Program
Program topics include:

  • Infection control
  • Skin care and incontinence management
  • Nutrition
  • Body mechanics and transferring
  • Mobility and range-of-motion exercises
  • Caregiver stress
  • Home Safety
  • Bathing and dressing
  • Personal care skills
  • Local resources and reference materials

Faculty
Sherry White, ADN, RN, C, who is certified in geriatric nursing and has years of experience in caring for older adults in the home and nursing home settings, teaches the Family Caregiver Workshops.

12:45-1:15 p.m. Skin Care
1:15-1:45 p.m. Incontinence Management and Bowel and Bladder Retraining
1:45-2:00 p.m. Break

2:30-3:15 p.m. Body Mechanics, Transfers and Positioning
3:15-4:00 p.m. Skills Practice

Day Two
