Family Caregiver Education

The Schmieding Center is dedicated to providing information to family members who are engaged in caring for loved ones in the home setting.

Programs are presented that cover the physical care for a loved one in the home. Different formats are available: an eight-hour workshop offered in two days or one-hour hands-on sessions during which family members learn a specific skill related to physical caregiving. Check the calendar for upcoming programs.

Also available are programs that address the behavioral issues with which a family caregiver might be confronted while caring for a loved one in the home setting. Check the calendar for upcoming programs.

The Schmieding Center has produced a set of three DVDs that show family members how to perform caregiving skills when providing care to a loved one in the home. The DVDs cover Basic Skills, Intermediate Skills and Advanced Skills. These DVDs are available for purchase.
