Need A Caregiver?
The Caregiver Directory is a list of graduates of the home caregiver training programs offered by the Schmieding Center who want to be employed as caregivers. These caregivers are available currently for in-home caregiving employment. Caregivers trained elsewhere are not placed on the Caregiver Directory until they complete at least the basic Elder Pal training course. All trainees must pass a written examination and skills demonstration to graduate and must maintain 12 hours of continuing education each year to remain on the Caregiver Directory. The Caregiver Directory is updated frequently and additional names are available whenever another class of caregivers completes their training. The Caregiver Directory contains the caregiver's name, phone number, preferred work hours and preferred work locations, so people searching for caregivers can choose and contact directly the candidates who are best suited to their needs. The Schmieding Center for Senior Education has a comfortable interview room that is available for conducting caregiver interviews. In addition, there is a geriatric specialist on staff to assist with the interview process upon request. The Schmieding Center for Senior Education, however, does not place or recommend specific individuals for employment. The Schmieding Center for Senior Education recommends that the employer conduct a background check through the Arkansas State Police on any potential caregiver. Forms for completing this background check are available through the Schmieding Center for Senior Education. The Schmieding Center for Senior Education does not assume any liability for the acts of individuals employed through the use of the Caregiver Directory. Contact Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education for additional information at info@schmiedingcenter.org or 479.751.3043, or call toll-free at 888.866.8991.
